Hello
Hello, I'm Carol Taylor, artist, now living and painting in
North Norfolk. In recent times I
have moved here from my long-time
home in West Surrey.
I continue to paint in my favorite
impressionist style inspired by the
delightful land and sea-scape scenery
around me. Norfolk is a delight
of colourful and richly textured woodland
complemented by enchanting undulating
pastures. And along the coast we have fascinating low-lying saltmarshes and turbulent North-Sea
waves, often pounding the shoreline. Sweeping
cliff top views, broad open skies, swooping seabirds and
deeply contrasted in-between
by calm sparkling summer seas.
All conspire to bring about a yearning to capture
such beauty in my paintings.
This passion for painting has evolved over many years. During teacher training
at Roehampton, I studied art as a special subject. From
there my career as a teacher and artist bloomed.
Teaching in primary education in West Surrey, I enjoyed
every opportunity to teach art and craftwork skills to
children in class. Later, when teaching part-time,
I began to enhance my personal artistic skills and
develop my own impressionistic style and technique, using
acrylics, pastel, charcoal and sometimes oil mediums.

I have always loved the challenge of capturing the
movement and energy of equestrian subjects. Wild horses
and race horses feature in many of my paintings. I
have exhibited several times as a Friend of the Society of Equestrian
Artists and demonstrated equestrian drawing at Ascot Race Course.
As an active exhibiting member of several art
societies in West Surrey and also a founder member of
West Surrey Artists I have been
honoured to have been
presented several awards
from these societies.
My paintings have been exhibited at many venues
throughout West Surrey... Denbies Wine Estate,
Dorking - 1215 Art Gallery Runnymede - The Lightbox, Woking -
the James Hockey galleries at University
of Arts Farnham, and
in London I have
exhibited at
the Mall Galleries with the Society of Women Artists.
And so, to Sheringham in North Norfolk, where I
continue painting at my home studio and as a member of
two local art groups. Here I have
have displayed my paintings in exhibitions at Sheringham, Cromer and East Runton, with more to follow.
My modestly priced paintings provide a fantastic way to enhance
and complement home and decor. That extra
splash of colour for the sitting room, the hall, maybe
a stairway, plus some soft topics for the bedrooms, or
even the study to help with those contemplative
moments.
Please enjoy your visit to my pages. I hope there
is something to your liking.
